Gary Henry joined SpaceX in February 2019 is currently a senior advisor of National Security Space Solutions. Focused on supporting the unique requirements of the Department of Defense and National Intelligence Community launch and space transportation mission requirements.
Prior to joining SpaceX in 2019, Gary was Senior Director of Phantom Works Space Systems, a unit of Boeing Space Defense & Security.
Gary served for 27 years of active duty service with the United States Air Force, including his final assignment as Commander, Launch and Range Systems Wing, responsible for the execution and operation of the Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle and Launch & Test Range programs for the USAF Space and Missile Systems Center.
Gary entered the Air Force in 1984 as a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy. Prior to his retirement from active duty, he has commanded at the squadron (1st Air and Space Test Squadron, Vandenberg AFB), group (Space Situation Awareness Group, Los Angeles AFB), and wing level.
Gary earned a Master of Science degree in aeronautical & astronautical engineering from Stanford University, a Master of Arts degree in strategic studies from Air War College, and a Bachelor of Science in astronautical engineering from the US Air Force Academy. He is also a graduate of the USAF Test Pilot School. He has authored numerous technical papers as well as a space propulsion textbook. Gary is an associate fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics having served on the Space Transportation Technical Committee.
