In light of the commercial space industry’s involvement in helping further the development of low earth orbit (LEO), and the ongoing discussions regarding NASA’s role in the mix of private, not-for-profit and public actors involved in LEO, Stuart Bradie, President & CEO of KBR, suggests there are lessons to be learned from its experience with Private Financed Initiatives (PFIs) that can help inform these discussions and decisions in order to support NASA with LEO and in its mission to explore and develop the rest of the solar system.

Since 1999, Robert Bigelow and his company, Bigelow Aerospace, have been on a mission to provide affordable and habitable destinations for national space agencies and corporate clients. In 2006 and 2007, we launched orbiting prototype habitats. And in May 2016, NASA attached a Bigelow Aerospace habitat, BEAM, to the International Space Station. In this keynote, Robert Bigelow will share his vision of how his company will assist human exploration and the discovery of beneficial resources, whether in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), on the moon, in deep space or on Mars.
